hi everybody

this is my first time here and i got major issues with my 2004 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY
a month ago i flushed my engine and changed my oil form 10 30 to 10 40 because spring is here and as soon as i was done changing and started up the car and the lifters sounded awfull like they r being strained of oil and when the engine reache oprating temp the low oil pressure light came on soi took it to the mechanic right away the first thing is he wasted my fresh royal purple oil and changed to a heavier weight castrol gtx 20 50 and then dropped the oil pan and the main bearing turned out be worn out so he gave me a qoute of 980 and assured me that it would solve the problem so i went ahead and had that done but it didn't solved the problem so he took of the timing cover and it had a hair line crack in it so i have to replace it because the oil pump is built into it and gameme qoute of 1200 and assured me once again that it would solve the problem but it didn't and he wanted to break into the motor so i got my car back after a month i m out 2177$ of my pocket and the problem is still there the oil pressure on the gauge is about 5 psi the lifters r not knocking the way they were before and the engine is running a lil smother as well but i m scared to drive the car because the weather is warming up so long story short i m will to turn wrench my self now if some one can guide me where to start i m goin to school for auto mechanics my self the only reason i went to the mechanic is i got no garage not enough tools but i m will to get it done on my own now

thank you for reading my post just need to know where should i start the process of elimination

This could make for a long reply. Send me your number and lets talk. First of all your mechanic could have just replaced the oil pump for $130 in parts, he is screwing you around. Do not drive the truck till we talk.
