Hi, i used the search function and found a thread with this topic....but it did not seem to help out much...so..
My 97 Disco, every once in awhile, under 15-20MPH, i get a squealy sort of sound that seems to be from the transfer case but when i open the door it seems like its coming from my left rear wheel. When i come to a stop it stops, but sometimes it doesnt squeal at all. It is sort of a _whine whine whine whine whiiiiiiiiine whiine_ like random intervals sometimes, but also some long ones (noticed earlier that i CAN actually make it stop squealing if i hit the brakes sometimes also). It also sometimes continues even after i have begun accelerating, but not for long, usually after about 20MPH it stops. . But, when i keep the brake pedal pushed so that the vehicle just creeps from/to a standstill, it feels like something is binding and dragging--a little vibration sensation along with a sound of metal dragging (think submarine movie when the pressure is getting too great for the body, the sound the metal makes as it implodes). This could be a brake too tight, do you think?
Any ideas? If you think its the pads, should i just take my left rear tire off and visually inspect it? Do you think its U-joints (how do i check these/what are they?) Do you think its mudshield near tire or t-case (again, how to check/what are these?). Any help would be great, i do not want to disrespect my Landy by ignoring any sounds....and make her mad at me
[ADD]
Would changing tranny and t-case fluids help out the 'common' shift to reverse clunk/shudder?
Part 3...my CDL light does not always come on, does it really matter?
Sorry for so long of a post, but i wanted to put as much info out as i can think of so you rovergeniuses could help me, i am still a n00b, just 4 months as an owner--and just 20 years old with little experience outside of my lil 96 taurus lol...
