I just wanted to write a short thread to introduce myself and to tell how excited I am about my new LR3.

My wife and I have been huge Volvo fans for about 7 years now. We went to a local dealer a few weeks ago to trade in our 04 XC90 on a new XC90. I signed the paperwork, but noticed a few Land Rovers on the lot while there. After I went home I called the dealer and put a stop to the deal. After a week, I went back and looked over a dealer demo LR3.

This was no easyl sell for me for a few reasons: My wife had reservations to the size of the LR3. The next issue was that my wife drives the truck about 75% of the time and gets it serviced at the Volvo dealer which was about 3 miles from her work (it was really easy).

I took my wife in for a test drive and she loved it, I checked the specs. on the LR3 and found that the XC90 was less than 1" shorter and less than 1" narrower. The dealer provides loaners for regular service so I will have to drop it off (LR dealer is about 25 miles away and not very easy to get to).

Anyway, I love the truck and am pretty excited about owning a vehicle that is made by a company that recognizes and rewards pride in ownership through owner events. I am someone that has to love a company to buy thier product. I am all about LR now and have spent WAY too much time looking up and reading related stuff.

We took the LR to VT the first day we owned it. It snowed all weekend and the truck worked great.

This site looks like a great place for LR info, so I am sure I will be around often.

Thanks
Dan

Good luck with it, Sounds like a good deal. What color? Trailer hitch wire is prettty easy but why not let the dealer do it, I did.

Welcome aboard Dan! The feeling you are experiencing is what we call "permagrin" these cars have their quirks, but they are one of the most enjoyable vehicles on the road...and even better OFF the road!

Congrats Dan on your purchase, I've had mine 18 months and still haven't lost the permagrin :) Just make sure you don't keep it on a leash ..... it needs to be let loose and chase the rabbits now and then ....if you know what I mean ;-)

Cheers
John

PS the lamp guards are a piece of cake.....I did front and rear in about an hour including a beer break.

dan - congrats!

i've only had mine for 4 months, but can't say enough about how much i love it. LR sent me a certificate for a 4-hour session at the LR Experience school as a 'welcome' gift...i'll be going on the upcoming easter long weekend, and am totally looking forward to taking the LR3 through the full 'advanced' course to get a first-hand sense of the true off-road capabilities of this amazing truck! i'm sure i'm going to love it even more after that weekend is over.

i still can't get over the number of heads the LR3 turns when you drive down the streets...i always have people approaching me to ask questions, or just admire the truck!!! i still can't help but smile as i approach it each day.

enjoy!!

I was pretty excited to find out that my dealer has their LR events at a fish and game club about 10 minutes from my house. I am looking forward to the next gathering.

Volvo make great seats so i am wondering what you think of the LR3 seats? More upright; comfortable? etc

Cpa4S-

Funny you should say that. I like the Volvo seats, the XC90 was an improvement over those in the XC70. I always had trouble staying comfortable on extended (2-3hr) journeys. I always felt like the seats in the XC90 needed a center bump down the back to push on your spine.

We took the LR on a 3hr trip last weekend and I felt more comfortable (not perfect, but better).
