Remember that you can't even engage Low Range on-the-fly (vehicle rolling / not stationary) if you are exceeding speeds of about 24 mph, and vice-versa you can not shift from low to high range if you are moving faster than 38 mph, you gotta slow down first.
Didnt know that you could actually shift to the low range while still moving. I thought I had read it in the handbook (either LR3' or 4's) a while back that in order to shift to low you had to come to a complete stop, shift the transmission to Neutral, select low range and then put the transmission back in D mode, and the same sequence of events in reverse for going back to the normal High range mode. So I have always followed the above procedure for going in and out of low range.
