Hello everyone,

Ok here is this weeks problem. My 02D2 starts every morning and runs like a champ. However, for the first time since I've owned it, I went to sit in my car at lunch to catch some of the baseball game on the radio. I sat for 10mina with the ignition in the "on" position. Seeing a better parking spot I attempted to start it. Instead it made a loud "chattering" noise almost like a toy machine gun. After several turns of the key it stopped making this sound and slowly worked its way into turning over and starting, very sluggish like. Checked all connections and battery tested at Autozone was perfect. Started up next morning perfect on first try. Turned car off and it tried to start it and it did no problem. Turned key to "on" position for a few mins and same "chattering" noise came back. Finally started after a min of turning key and trying to start. Ran my code scanner and nothing came up.

Any ideas what this could be?

Sounds like a bad starter. I'm no mechanic, so JMO.

Replace the battery, no matter what autozone said.

I would be suprised if its the starter. It has started right up for the entire month I've had it. I'm thinking more along the lines of a short somewhere, bad solenoid or something along thos elines. When I don't use the "accessories" and trigger this, it starts really strong.

Thanks Joey, I will do that this weekend. Is there anything else that might cause this?

If the battery is not connected correctly or loose wires to the battery, other than that if the battery is 4 years old or older replace it.

Amen to what joey said. If it starts strong in every other situatation it has to be the battery especially if it is over 4 years old. And buy a transistor radio ha ha ha.

I'd say it's the ignition switch which is a common problem with LR's. If your switch moves side to side it's getting worn and so are the contacts.
