Has anyone put in their own mass air flow sensor? I had my '99 4.0 checked and I need a new one. Tried cleaning it out, but now my truck hesitates a little starting up from standstill. Will a new one automatically reset the check engine light or will I still need to go in to get this reset?
Thanks

Whether the check engine light will go off on its own depends on the code (or codes) that is causing the light to be illuminated. I understand that there are "soft" and "hard" codes. With a soft code, the check engine light will turn off after a certain number of drive cycles without the fault being sensed. With a hard code, the check engine light will not go off on its own. I'm not certain which codes are soft or hard.
