Got a 20050 LR3 went in for routine maintenance today . Has 16K on it, i told them that the for the past week while i am sometimes driving the main message center on the instrument panel goes BLACK. It will then blink at you opr flashes , it looks like a ********* rectandgle. It takes up the whole instrument panel and therefore you can see no info ie temp outside or est mpg left. I just called the dealer and they LRA is there looking at it, because they have never heard of this problem b4. Any one out there have this.

I remember reading about something like this, maybe on one of the Range Rover Sport boards? It turned out to be a loose connection. Everytime the guy went over a bump, it went black then came back. I think they replaced the unit. Funny how everything is replaced these days rather than repaired. Everything seems to be a "component" which makes it difficult to just whack with a wrench!

I hear that. I have a Mini as well as the LR and I have been having a problem with the clock getting faster and faster. It will gain about 8-10 mins a month. So I took it to the dealer for a check up and they said it is a recal. But to fix it they have to replace the Speedo cluster (as the clock it built into it). I thought they would just be able to flash it or something but no!

Mine does the same thing, but now its working again. The dealer looked at it and ordered a new display. He said he hasn't seen the problem before in the LR3 but they have seen it in the RRS.

I recently purchased my 06 LR3 HSE, 12-22-06, and my message center screen is frozen. Initially upon starting the vehicle, it appears to work and before it completes the system check it completely freezes. Previously parts of the screen would freeze. Now the whole screen freezes. I've tried restarting the car and reseting the message system at least 10 times. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be? I am taking it to the dealer this weekend?

There is a partially good reason for this. Ford (I mean Land Rover) doesn't make all that many parts themselves. So they send faulty units back to the source mfr for diagnosis, Q&A tracking, reimburesement, etc...
