Anyone else experience this: When I turn my steering wheel all the way to the left, usually in reverse but has happened in drive, I hear this nasty noise that sounds like metal rubbing against metal.

I also noticed that I can turn my wheel to the left more than I can turn my wheel to the right. I mean: I turn my wheel all the way to the right and the tires turn and stop at a natural point. But, when I turn my wheel to the left, I get to that natural stop point, then its almost like by turning the tires, there is more room to go even further left with the steering wheel. Does not seem natural.

Anyone?

I get this (2006 LR3SEV8). Sounds nasty especially in underground parking lots where the noise echoes. Did you find out what it was?

I believe the added mobility in the left turning radius is the new NASCAR feature on the LR3...Sorry couldn't resist.

The following post speaks to the issue of the column being made of aluminum and the steering box made of steel...If you hear metal on metal - it sounds like it needs to be checked out. Safe driving.

I experienced the same and was told to bring it in for service. It is fixable and you should have your truck back the same day.

had the same problem. probably one of the most God awful sounds i ever heard. believe it or not the fix was to lube the bumpstop. thats it. should take more time to write it up than to fix it. i cant make guarantees, but id put my money on it.

I second that. Complained about that problem and they did lube the stops as a solution. Haven't heard it since.
