Multiple misfires 97 RR 4.0

Anyone help in diagnosing multiple misfire issues on 97 RR 4.0. Already replaced plugs and wires... seems to be running worse. Constant shudder/vibration occurring at all RPMs. Began about a week ago, brought to local retail shop immediately - codes indicated multiple misfires. Local mechanic was not much help otherwise.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please provide codes if you have them, as close to a full maintenance history in the last year at least, air filter was change when? And are you using a K&N filter... if K&N buy a new MAF sensor and replace K&N with a standard paper filter.
