ok now i am more well versed in using my poi's, tonight i started looking at resturant icons to get more info on em by touching and holding the icon. it gave me restaurant name etc however, i couldnt figure out how to disable the icon info access mode and go back to my vehicle position mode. as we drove further the map stayed on the area where we checked the resturant icon while we had traveled off the visible map. can anyone tell me how to get back to normal map guideance mode after accessing a POI icon?

Yes, this annoyed me for a while also. The answer is pretty simple...

ANY time you have scrolled away (and I think also when you are in most menus) hitting the left button below the screen will return you to the real time view.

Good luck.

awesome worked perfectly! now, has anyone else upgraded to the 2006 dvd? i just did last night and i was wondering what the POI database difference is between 2004 and 2006 dvds? i heard coffee shops were added but starbucks doesnt show up with an icon (ala MCD, BK, Subway, wendys etc) only as a general restaurant icon :(.

An old POI post but over the weekend, my 6yr old "helped" my wife typing in an address and somehow he sabotaged the screen. To date, I've never had icons on the screen and now they are everywhere. How do you remove them? I tried back tracking some of the steps in previous posts to remove but no luck. Anyone? thanks!

IIRC, touch the map, touch the POI button that pops up on the bottom, and de-select them all ("POI Off" or "All Off") from the screen that follows.
