We just bought a '99 Discovery - tired of hauling stuff around in the trunk of my MB 300CD coupe or Sarah Jane, my '74 TR6 - needed a truck. I understand the 99's have Lucas electricals - I've suffered with the Lucas electrics in the TR6 for 33 years - I hope they've improved - on the Texas Truimph Registery, Sir John Lucas is known as the Prince of Darkness.

Welcome to the forum... did you get a 99 D1 or a 99 D2? easy way to say is the type of door handles... are the flat on the outside of the door or can you actually grip them?

It's a type I, flat handles - first titled in January of 99. Has bull bar and factory towing package.

Well, that's good to know. Years ago, when I was driving my TR6 as my daily driver ( I bought it new), I have flown back into town, gone to the parking lot, turned the key and NOTHING. But,al least it was predictable - remove the fuse cover and roll the three fuses (yes, that's all the fuses the TR6 has) and varoom, she'd start.
