First LR I've ever owned. In fact, first real 4wd I've ever owned. Got a great deal on a service loaner 2006 model SE V8 with 7 passenger seating, climate package and lighting package. The parking assist and sirius radio were extras as well.
I have owned it one week and here are some thoughts/comments....
1. Love the ride. It is better than I thought it would be on those awful GY tires. Turning radius is incredible for an SUV of that size.
2. I know fuel economy is not good (sticker on mine said 14 city - 18 highway) but it is worse than I thought it would be. It seems like I can actually see the fuel gauge needle go down continuously as I drive. Yikes! But I know I didn't buy a hybrid or some 4 cyl, 140 hp car so it goes with the territory.
3. I find I have to actually slam the doors to get them to shut completely. If I happen to just casually take two fingers to shut the door, it doesn't shut all the way. Kind of annoying as I'm not use to it.
4. We had some snow fall in Wisconsin yesterday so of course, I had to get out in it to get a first hand feel for snow capability. No problemo. Thing went right through my unplowed neigborhood road like it was driving right on asphalt. I didn't even have it in "snow mode". I didn't notice a difference in feel in either mode as a matter of fact.
5. Climate control works wonderfully. Cabin heated up within a minute or two of starting it up in 30 degree temps.
6. Mine has the cooler box and I've already used that as my little one's yogurt stayed nice and cold on a 30 min drive across town. Neat feature that I will use often I think.
7. I haven't activated sirius yet but I am fixing to call them and get that started. Anyone know how I can find the electronic code from my radio that I need to give sirius? I played around with it yesterday but I couldn't find the code.

Now if I can just keep my daughter's shoes off of the back of my seat, I'll be a real happy camper! The dark leather really shows the dust and dirt, doesn't it?

You can find the radio's code (ESN) by first pressing the menu button, then use the right knob to scroll to the end of the list, then press the right knob to display the ESN. Be prepared to write it down, it's quite long.

The doors on your LR3 are a little more difficult to close than on other cars because they are tripple (4x ???) sealed. This prevents water from entering the vehicle when you are fording through up to 28" of water.

I can attest that the terrain response works well in snow. Just play around with it a bit. While you still have some snow, try accelerating from a stop in grass/gravel/snow mode as compared to normal mode. You should immediately notice the difference. For more info on T/R, just do a search on the topic in this forum.

Welcome to the club!

Airboss is right on. Snow mode "detunes" the throttle response to reduce wheel slip. At the same time, DSC, SRS, ABS and Traction Control are all cranked up a notice on the sensitivity scale.

Thanks

Thanks Airboss.
I was able to get the ESN and call Sirius to start the subscription. No problems.
I tried out your suggestion of snow mode from a stop and you were right on. It did handle a bit better than standard mode, especially from a stop or slow down as I make a turn.
Of course the downfall of this weather is that the truck is a mess now!

congrats Southpaw - you will love this vehicle - i've had mine for almost 6 months, and can't say enough good about it.

i just got back from the LR Experience Driving School in Montebello, Quebec on the long weekend...talk about seeing what this vehicle is capable of!!! we had just gotten a nice light snowfall the night before to go along with the already challenging course...the LR3 was unstoppable!

all - if you get a chance to go to one for the LR Experience schools (they have them in California, North Carolina, and Quebec), do it!!!

I to am new to the LR3 from WI. Were did you buy yours? Bergstrom in Appleton is were I bought my certified 2005 SE last month.

Exellent do all vehicle with a great ride, drivetrain and room. I am not to disappointed by the MPG having had other "trucks" of this weight, In fact that tall 6 gear makes it quite acceptable on the hwy.

Love it!

I actually drove down to Hoffman Estates, IL and bought from LR Hoffman. It was about a 2 hour drive. They put together the best deal for me and they had the exact one I wanted with only 4k miles.

There is not very many up in my neck of the woods in Green Bay. It definately gets its share of double takes. Its like my Dad used to say "you don't want to see your self coming and going", and an LR3 in Northeast WI is fairly unique. Shame though as most people think they are problem waiting to happen. So far so good, and I am very impressed by the LR3 overengineered apprach to the (most important) things.
