My wife and I bought a silver HSE last year and have LOVED it. No issues. It's our third Rover (all purchased from Mark Manniko at Land Rover Flatirons - great guy and a great dealership). We've had loads of fun in all the snow we've gotten lately. Our schedule (we both work, I'm studying to be a physician and we have a five year old daughter) doesn't leave us much time, but we get the LR3 out when we can.

If anyone is thinking of getting one, definitely get the HSE. All the features are excellent. From the bluetooth (which we use with Treo 680 phones for handsfree talking) to the sat radio to the adaptive lights to the nav system and cold box....it's all great stuff.

BoulderGT3....are you actually in Boulder? We've lived in Boulder for about ten years now and love it (we're at Wonderland Lake).

Just wanted to jump in here...

I also am a new LR3 owner (2006 service loaner w/5k miles) and am in the process of moving from CA to the Boulder area...I've been through this board from end to end and keep hoping to see a viable snow tire option since I'm guessing I'll need all I can get for traction in CO...

D.

When Car and Driver did their 40K mile road test on the LR3, they used Nokian snow tires. I've never heard of them before, but here's a quote straight from the review...

"SNOW TIRES: As the gales of December came howling in, we substituted the all-season Goodyear Wrangler HPs for 255/50R-19 Nokian Hakkapeliitta snow tires (www.nokiantyres.com), $1524 installed. Although the Goodyears never drew complaint for their winter traction, the Hakkas took us 12,000 miles and were unstoppable in the white stuff."

Yep, I'm in Boulder. Grew up here.

I'm too cheap to buy the HSE. I bought the LR3 because my crew cab diesel is such a hassle to drive in Boulder and about anywhere else unless I have the car hauler on it.

I've got garage full of sports cars and the most high perfomance thing I've driven in the past 2 months is my snow blower. never remember the snow laying on the ground this long in Boulder. Starting to make me nuts.

In the decade we've been here, I've never seen snow like this either. After med school and residency are done, we're moving somewhere warm (somewhere near the ocean with mountains nearby so we can have a little of both worlds). I just hope that wherever we end up we'll have a dealership as good as Flatirons.

By the way, what color is your LR3? I'm sure we'll see each other around town at some point.

the truck is white/tan. Like most of them.

I'm off to go ice racing with the guys at Flatirons.

A white one.....that should be easy to spot. I've not seen you around town so far then. I've seen the Tonga green ones, a black one, a gold one and several silver ones (like ours).

Have fun on the ice.

i'll work on reconciling that with your Gallardo?

the GY are not great in the snow and ice up here but in that snow mode it still stays on the raod well. Just have to careful about the stopping distance more than cornering etc.

White on tan - if the wife keeps hogging the LR3 i am getting a RR Sport in that colour for myself!

I sucked so bad on the ice it was humiliating. Had everything hooked up on the practice run and couldn't find any stick in the real elimination.

I track cars a lot so it was funny that I was inept.

It's hard to reconcile anything more than a Camry in my mind. It's all fun after that.

I think the RRS is the coolest thing in the product line. I need more room and the RRS is cool enough that it's starts getting into the "fussy" car category for me. I'd be more careful where I parked it, keep it detailed at all times and so on. I've got a garage full of fussy cars and was just going for practical function even though I'll maintain the LR3 to perfection.

I actually like to drive on the snow with all of the "electronic nannies" turned off. More fun and it's easier to get a sense of where the limits are. Credit to the LR3, even though it's a bit butt heavy for neutral sliding the feel and feedback are great.

I have these on my LR3. Great tires.
