Good morning everyone!
I just picked up an '05 LR3 SE that is loaded with EVERY option and has 70k on the clock. This is the third Rover that I currently own, sharing a stable with an '08 HSE RR and a '95 soft dash RRC. I got what I believe was a great deal on this immaculate truck (less than $16K) and, believe it or not, prefer driving it to my '08 Range Rover! I hopped in it this morning and the "service brakes soon" light came on. I am fairly mechanical, and have my own lift, and am just wondering if this is a horrible job to complete, and if there is any trick to resetting the warning light about the brakes, other than taking it to the dealer and having it reset with the testbook. I have enjoyed reading about the different prices people are paying to have the brakes/rotors replaced, and I did a search on resetting the warning, but I wasn't able to come up with anything. If anyone can give a newbie some advice or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

So far I love the LR3, and am looking forward to a long relationship with it!!!

I believe the light is triggered by the low pad sensors that are located on the calipers. Typically these are replaced when you do a brake job. As for the job itself, based upon talk on this board and others, it is fairly easy. I know I'll be doing it myself with a full EBC kit once I wear the current pads out.

I'll hit you with the extensive brake job research I did in April, but after I get to work on Monday and get it from my office PC.
Also, let me hit you up with a new sensor. Once tripped and signalling the light, the sensor needs replacement with the pads and the circuit repairs to shut off the signal. I bought new, but did not need to replace and so have it available at a discount to you (saves me a trip to dealer to return during the day).
Pads can be any maker, and I used either of a couple recently - more on Monday.
Jay.

Thanks so much guys for the heads up!

I put it on the lift yesterday and pulled a wheel-doesn't look too different than any other brake job that I have done. I guess it's off to the dealer tomorrow for new sensors, and then over to Big A for brakes/rotors.

Thanks!!
