Hi everyone. Just starting on my voyage to LR3 ownership by searching for info here. Hope to have something to offer as far as POV and experiences soon too. Selling my Honda Ridgeline for more serious off road touring and hauling my race car (Lotus Elise - thus my handle).

So what do you all think? Is having a great offroad luxury machine that can tow AND fit in my garage worth alln the British car misgivings as I assume I'm about to face or am I not understanding the full magnitude of Land Rover's vast improvement in reliability? I'm used to trouble. I make it all the time. That doesn't mean I like it though!

Welcome to the forum.. You own a lotus, and your worried about British vehicles?

I own a '97 Land Rover Discovery, an '03 Jaguar XJ8, and would love to have a Lotus in my stable... that was going to be my next vehicle, but until my future business gets off the ground (yes even in this economy I think I can find a market to make money) my Lotus will have to wait.

You also mention reliability, do you remember the V8 Esprit?, or the and I love the style of the Giugiaro Esprit? I loved the style, but changing the brakes, or the timing belt issues, come on... things change.

Oh I've had lots of fun with British cars and owned a least a handful, but up until recently Jag and Lotus have been relegated to car show viewing only - for good reason - I have a bigger brain than a heart. But I have to say the Lotuses have been amazing in every respect (except street manners). Rarely a mechanical issue, superbly engineered, easy to work on, takes endless amounts of track abuse without a whimper or a sneeze. Below are my two Lotuses. You may drool on them if that pleases you. It's your keyboard!
