Hi all!

As mentioned in another post, my 95 Disco now has a Borla Cat-back exhaust system with new Magnaflow Cat-converters.

The exhaust system is working great.

I now have questions about what next? I think I need to replace my alternators, since in idle all my lights flicker. This symptom does not appear when running.

I already have K&N drop-in filter, but have not seen any performance gain from it. Also am not sure if that is really the way to go.

I am running genuine replacement wires and Champion plugs. Does replacing them to Magnacore and some other plugs make a difference?

What other changes can I make to get her back to being a reliable daily driver?

Any and all suggestions and comments welcome.

The problem with your lights flickering is not due to your alternator. I currently have the same problem with my 97 disco. I had alternator and battery checked and they were both ok. My truck actually goes into the shop tomorrow for them to fix. When I know exactly what the problem was I will post for you.

SKC,
Your flickering alt. light can be caused from 3 things, the alternator could be getting tired, the battery or a bad connection/ground. The best thing to do would be to have someone to a draw/chargeing test on your trucks charging system and go from there.
As fo the K&N, you will normally only see a difference under full throttle situations or at highway speeds, thats all.
If all you are looking for is a reliable driver, don't worry abot the plugs and wires. If on the other hand you wanted to go and and play hard, yes Magnacors and Bosh Platiomn Plus 4's would make a nice difference.
Stay in touch,
Mike J.

I went to my mechanic yesterday and the problem with the lights was due to a bad ground connection like Mike said. He cleaned my battery terminal and a few other places with a wire brush and the problem is gone.

Hope fully this will fix your problem
