When I start my car in the morning, it very often kinda shakes almost like a cylinder is out. It does this for about 5 to 10 seconds and then goes normal. This started happening about 6 months ago when it was still under warranty and LR of Orlando pulled codes and said it needed new plug wires. Well they replaced them and it did it again about a month later and they replaced them again. It even did a CEL when they were pulling the car up for me to pick up. So a few months later it does it again and I bring it in and then they say that I have a leak in my valve cover gasket that may be causing the problem. So they replace the gasket and try to charge me over 800.00 and I say no way and I raised hell and the Service GM said they would "give" me this one. Ok fine. Well not even a week later it does it again and I take it back and this time they say the code pulled tells them there is a bad MAF sensor. So I pay them 400 to replace it and lo and behold it does it again a few days later. So, I take it back again and they say they cant figure it out and that now it could be carbon buildup on the valves or something causing it to shake like that at first start up. So I did the seafoam treatment last night and the CEL went off but I started her up today and it did it again. I hate to take it back to those morons again but I feel they should fix it and make it right and besides I get a free loaner rover since I bought it there. Oh, and I just went on a long trip to NC and now it over heats sometimes and I had to add almost 2 gallons of water to it. I can hear air/water bubbling behind the intake plenum on top back between the engine and the firewall. Does anyonme have any ideas? HELP!

Sounds like (water issue) would be the intake gasket needs replaced....

Shaking issue if only doing it on start up, I would say either carbon issue, or possible a clogged or bad injector.... run a can of seafoam through the gas... one can per tank for 3 tanks... and see if that clears it up...

Basically if you don't drive any car hard it will get some carbon build up, but this is a 1960's motor and it will have more issues than most due to this fact. If it is carbon, once you get it cleared up, drive it like you stole it 1 or 2 times a month and you should have any more issues.

Cheaper to drive it hard then pay the repair bills.

LR Recommend 91 Octane or above... I rund at least 91 or 92 octane in mine... sure it doesn't get great fuel economy, but I would rather run what they recommend and drive, then run the cheap stuff and have to fix things.... I have heard of people that have run the cheap stuff in them since day one without issue, and I have heard of people running high octane with issues... I think it is more of how you drive and how much short run stop and go you do.

this seafoam treatment only works for the valves on the intake side. It wont do anything for the exhaust side because it is burned off right?

It will work on both sides... the exhaust is where the carbon build up is. When you run the seafoam threw the fuel tank, that is when it cleans the intake plenum and the intake valves.
