Dave...if you couldn't care less about offroading, why buy an LR3?

Just answer that question logically. You could've had a starting point (i.e., different vehicle) that was way more suited for your aesthetic upgrates...meaning "prettier" than the LR3 and/or faster. It's not that we don't appreciate aesthetics, it's that you started with the wrong canvas my friend.

So...answer that question, if you please. Why the LR3?

Good question..
Ill tell you, I was shopping for vehicles and loved Range Rovers, but even with good deals on "after lease" vehicles, they seemed a little out of my price range. One day I saw my very first 2005 LR3 (it was in the parking lot next to my gym and it turns out a friend of mine drove it.) I kid you not, from that day forward.. I knew I wanted one. They are beautiful to me.. I still look at them and say wow, what a great looking suv. Ive even seen those Dodge Nitros and other suvs kind of bite off of their body design...Yes, indeed it is boxy, but theres something about the way its put together that on the exterior I really like.
So I asked my friend to show me the interior of the LR3 and it was alpaca leather, with all all of the moonroofs.. I was in pure amazement. Its funny, I live in an area where youll see nice Range Rovers, mercedes, porsche, bmw... anytime of day.. but I never really paid attention or had seen an LR3 before that day.
Basically after that, I just shopped vigorously through dealer auctions all over until I found an '06 with very few miles that I picked up. I must say, it has been a pleasure getting to drive it.. it just seems well tuned and sharp, comfortable smooth ride.. the gas mileage seems about equal to what I get with my other suv.., and after all >.I didnt buy it because it was economically efficent, I bought it because I just wanted to have one because they just seem one of a kind!
Only until watching tons of clips on youtube and reading on forums did Ir eally know all of the vehicles offroad capabilities..and I still am amazed. I want to set the record straight, I live in a part of the country where everyone knows somebody that likes to take their rides offroad.. and I think its a really cool hobby to get into!.. I give mad props to anyone ridiculous enough to attempt some of the stuff you guys do in here!..but for my vehicle I treat it different. I could see why for some that would seem lame, but I have different expectations for the "look" of my vehicle... thats all.
I guess where some seem it is as a liability, I look at the vehicle as one that has potential to look rad customized! I already have a lot of ideas!

Dave, I feel bad that you got your balls busted so bad on this forum, but again it's our culture. It's not even that your ride doesn't look good...it's more that it just goes against how we see the LR3 fitting into the world. I think we've covered all that. I understand how you must've felt to come into the forum to proudly show off what you've done only to get rebuked and rejected.

If you still have your stock rims, you ought to take your rig out ONE TIME and see what it can do on a trail. You may just change directions completely. You can keep the 24s for when you're on the road, but at least take the D3 out and play now and then. Trust me, I love my rig more than you can imagine and I've taken it out more than a dozen times...I just have a good system of polishes that keep the paint looking pretty good. It's not flawless but from 3 ft away it looks perfect and that's good enough for me considering all the fun I've had in it and all the incredible experiences I've had.

You just don't know your LR3 yet. I love mine more and more every time it saves my ass or otherwise does something amazing (with some help from me behind the wheel!). Hell my wife wheels it too! It's a nice way to build trust as a couple...but I don't want to get all Dr. Phil on your ass.

Oh...it also would've helped if you didn't talk like Vanilla Ice up in here!

Just kiddin!!! (not really)

ha ha hah.....
