Oil Change Just Because It's Been 18 Months?

For any number of reasons, the 2013 has seen very, very few miles lately, just enough to keep everything lubricated and charged.

The motor oil is coming up on 18 months since the last change but less than 1,000 miles, more like about 500 miles.

I was always taught to change oil every 2 years no matter how many miles, but that was the dim dark ages before engines were "sealed".

Please Discuss...

I personally wouldn't bother for another 12 months probably.

You can do an oil analysis if you really want to know the state of your oil/engine health.

Get it out on the highway and get that oil good and hot to drive out moisture. I think you are fine...

I use the Rover recommended Castrol OE at whatever weight is recommended for the various LR4's in our stable.
It's more available now than a couple years ago, so that helps..

Mobil 1 5W-20 extended performance. Recently switched to the high mileage version of it. Those 13 year old seals need some love..
