so recently i noticed that when i leave my 92 range rover country in park on a hill it rolls away at about an inch per minute. does any one know what could cause this? i always asumed park meant "wrench in the gears" and did not depend on friction...apearently not, any ideas?

Sounds like the old transmission is in need of repair... try using the parking brake, and if it doesn't work adjust it. Very easy to do, just climb under and look for the drum under the drivers seat. Insert socket I think it is a 14 or 15 mm and turn to the right to tighten... don't get turn happy though or it will get way to tight, half turn at a time and test from driver seat.
