Open the glove compartment. Squeeze the guides on both sides of the compartment to drop the comparment. The filter flap should be visible behind and above the compartment. Open the flap to access the filter.

Recommended replacement is every 15,000 miles. About $50. Cleaning is not recommended with all the leaves, gunk, grime, etc. After all, it's the air you are breathing.

I had the pollen filter replaced by the dealership under the normal LR maintenance program. No cost, it is a scheduled maintenance item (if you are at 15K miles).

And if you are past your warranty...

I have heard of others cutting up home, central-air filters. The material is probably something you can find in many hardware or auto parts stores.

At least I have heard of others doing this in other cars, not the LR.

toddjb122,

I doubt that LR would replace your filter for free. If they did, it would show in your work order receipt.

In hotter regions, less air passes through the pollen filter. This is because most automatic climate controls are programmed to shut the outside air intake vents (it goes into recirculation mode) on temperatures above approximately 74 degrees Farenheit.

If it looks clean, i.e., light can go through, you probably can blow it out with a shop vac and not replace this $50 filter.

Good info, thanks.

I wasn't sure if a pollen filter captures such find matter that I wouldn't be able to tell if it was dirty. I'll hold it up to the light.

It is working, of course, as the unfiltered side of the passage is dusty and the other is clean.
