Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm new here and am currently in the market for a pre-owned LR3. I have been bumping around here to get a feel for what people experiences have been with this SUV and with the dealers. With me being in the aftermarket automotive industry I know what it is like to hear people whine and complain. I'm basically looking for opinions of what are the owners likes and dislikes are about this SUV. Thanks!

Use search... or just browse around. Really, it's all probably been said. The LR3 is almost 3 years old now. There are other forums, too.

First off, I love the LR3. I bought mine in 2005 (early build). Its an SE model, but came loaded with every feature except the upgraded stereo system. It is by far, my favorite vehicle to date. It is VERY utilitarian with its large cargo space and off-road ability. Its also extremely comfortable on long trips. I drove it cross country and felt great afterward. On the other end of the spectrum, it does have the feel of a luxury vehicle. Its probably pretty rare to find these two qualities in a single vehicle. For the size and weight, the gas mileage isn't terrible compared with others in its class. I got about 20 mpg on my cross country trip (get about 14mpg day to day driving).

Since my LR3 was an early build 2005, I've had to bring it in to the shop more often than I would like for updates, recalls, and service campaigns. But, I kind of expected that.

I honestly can't think of one thing I would change about this vehicle other than the tires that it comes with. Its served me very well as my day-to-day vehicle as well as a camping / off-roading / hauling truck. My only other complaint is that the center-console cooler box can only hold 4 beers, not 6.

Good luck!!!

I think in general, you will pick up the following theme from discussion forum to discussion forum:

1. The LR3 requires more dealer interaction than most people would prefer, but it's all under warranty and does seem to get resolved.
2. The brakes and tires are expensive and need to be replaced more frequently than preferred.
3. The stock Goodyears are total crap, and probably will wear prematurely. Replace them promptly, and in addition you will want to get your own alignment done ASAP and regularly.
4. It's the most amazingly versatile and comfortable car most of us have ever owned, and we absolutely love them.
5. If you take them off road, you will be amazed at it's capabilities, and will feel like you are getting double value for your money.
6. Buy the extended warranty!

I love mine, it takes me everywhere, and it's likes to get dirty

I have to echo NWOODS comments. Just about ready to turn 50k miles on my 05 HSE. Yes, I have spent a couple of trips to the dealer, but way way less than I ever did with my Disco II. The technology is so far beyond other vehicles, that at least for those of us with 2005 models, we were trusting pioneers. And, despite the horror stories that you will find out there, the majority of the owners are very satisfied, and (tear forming in eye) proud to be owners of LR3's. I have taken mine places that I always come back with (1) a smile on my face, (2) a feeling of euphoria from going someplace that gave me white knuckles, and (3) new Land Rover friends each trip. :hello:

Go for it...
