1997 Discovery SE7, 100,000 miles: I've had this vehicle for about three weeks when, all of a sudden, the seat-back on the driver's side would recline but not move forward! Jiggling the switch moved the back so far back that I was beginning to look like one of those "Blue Hairs" (at this point, I'll take hair of ANY color) that you only see the hands on the steering wheel but no head! I checked the switch with an ohm meter and it was O.K. Reading in the forums here pointed me to the two fuses under the seat, about which I was not aware - but they were still good. I jiggled (this is about as technical as I can get) the cables going to the seat from the back and, all of a sudden, the seat began to work! I adjusted it forward to a comfortable position and, hopefully, it will never be moved again! This probably won't help anybody but this forum was so helpful to me that I wanted to add to it. Of interest, the driver-side seat controls will work only if the driver's door is open. The passenger side controls will not work with just the driver's side door open.
