Hi Guys

I have a few questions on my 95 Discovery.
I just put a 3.9 V8 motor back in it. The old motor was bad.

!. My key some times comes out of the ignition switch and most of the time the key won't come out. I unhook the battery and the key comes out. I tighten the nut that is located in the shifter.

2. When the Discovery is warm it is hard to start back up. The right side O2 sensor is not in the exhaust. The opening for it is welded shut. I am going to buy a O2 sensor **** so the sensor is in the exhaust. I am getting a Code 02 and Code 45.

Would you guys have any ideas? I love driving this Discovery around.

Thank You
Walter

Key in the switch, can you please explain what position the key is in when it will not come out with or without the battery disconnected.

Hard to restart after warm is normally a fuel related issue. Pump is old and your not getting fuel pressure... filter is dirty... fuel temp sensor may be bad...

Hi Joey

I have just replaced the fuel filter about a week ago. Does my Discovery have the fuel temp sensor? When I turn the key back where it stops and then you have to push it in a little that is the spot where I can't turn it anymore to take the key out. If I unhook the battery the key will come out fine.

Thank You

Yes to the fuel temp sensor... as your facing the engine it should be on the right side just behind the water pump.

Key, sounds like the shifter lock is not working correctly (they thing that locks the shifter in park when you shut the engine off.) Might just need to remove it and wire it to think it is still there.

Hi Joey

What wires are you talking about by the shifter or somewhere else? when the motor is warm or hot and when I try to start it I hear the fuel pump humm like it should. How hard is it to change the fuel temp sensor?

Thank You

When the old motor was in the Discovery it acted the same way hard to start when it was warm or hot. I think its the fuel pump. The Discovery has 212,000 miles on it. The motor I just put in it has 111,000 mileson it.

Thank You

Okay with that many miles, it may be the fuel pump... have you checked the fuel pressure?

No I have not checked the fuel pressure yet. I have to buy one first. How would I wire the shifter to make it think it is still there?

Just remove the shifter lock switch and .... you know what I think you can just remove the switch and see if that works... not sure if you have to rewire it.

I unhooked the switch and the key came right out. But here is the problem I couldn't take it out of park. What did I need to do to rewire it.

Thank You
Walter
