I am buying a 2005 LR3 w/Nav, that's supposed to be certified(I am skeptical of all company's certified BS). I will pick it up tomorrow, but my question is if you guys think I am making a mistake. Is the 2006 more dependable, since it's had an extra year to work out the kinks. Or does being a couple of years old, hence many kinks should have already been fixed and being certified, should I be ok? I appreciate your input. Or are the LR3's not dependable no matter the year?

I'd review the service record for the car... it should show if a pattern of problems exists with that particular car.

Also check the build date, seems like the builds later in the 2005 MY were of, comparatively, better quality.

Good luck!

Thank you, I was going to ask for Vehicle Master Inquiry before I wrote the check. What dates would be considered later in the year?

I think that a 2005 with all the current software and TSB's would be fine, but if there is no price advantage for you, go with the 2006. Warning! The 2006 is missing a few features that the 2005 has, like adjustable lumbar and the wonderful little clips on the sides of the windshield for parking lot tickets, etc...
