I cant open my rear boot lid, appears to open a bit and the pull shut again

I am having a slightly different but similar area problem in that I cannot get my rear boot open. I presume it is an actuator failure.

If you hear the actuator firing but the hatch doesn’t open it’s likely just the cable came loose. It’s been a while since I had my LR3 but if I remember correctly I removed the panel on the inside that covers the actuator. You can get a small role of cable and crimps from any hardware store for $5. It took me maybe 15 mins to replace and was good as new until I traded the car years later. Land Rover will try to charge a lot to do this.
