Hi all. Im posting this for my buddy who has a 03 with under 35,000 miles. Vehicle is bone stock. Today he was wheelin on a moderate trail when he noticed that the engine RPM had gone up and no forward motion was taking place. He had to back down the trail and continue home (2 miles) with what he had thought was front wheel drive. After He had arrived home he had noticed that when putting in drive, the rear d-line was turning but the wheels were not. I didnt think that it was r/p (due to the fact that it was bone stock) but rather the yoke. anybody else run into this prob? any info appreciated.

Not sure, but isn't he still under warrenty? If so, the Dealer should fix this, since he is still in stock form.

Just make sure that he washes it fairly well. (don't want the dealer to think he acually went off road in a Land Rover).

Yes he is still covered under warranty. I just wasn't sure if it could be something as simple as a stuck solenoid or something electrical. Its hard for the do-it yourselfer to diagnose problems with todays technology. He takes it to the dealer tomorrow to get it fixed. I'll keep you all posted. I find it hard to believe that it was an axle shaft or ring and pinion considering he's not locked up, wasn't aired down and was on dirt.

Any thing is possible... When I have heard of brand new engines going bad before they even get off the lot of the dealership (Not LR), then I would say anything can happen.
