Rear view mirror

Can anyone tell me how the non-electric standard rear view mirror comes off the windshield of my LR3. Im afraid im going to crack the front screen

I asked this same question on disco3uk and a number of members cautioned me against removal. They said there's potential for cracking or damaging the heated screen. I don't know if there's a lot of truth to their warnings, but it scared me enough not to attempt a removal. Let me know if you hear otherwise.
