Hello all! I am brand new to the site & being a Land Rover owner as well. Bought a 1997 Discovery for a song but with some issues. The Catalytic Converter is bad and the check engine light remains "on." My state does not require any inspection or emission standard. If I were to ream out the converter, how can I get the check engine light to remain off? I would like it operative for other problems which may arise. Thanks

First welcome to the forum.... second, I will never advise anyone to mess with the Cat Converter it is a Federal offense if you mess with it... a very expensive fine and many years in jail.

That being sad if you would remove or ream it out the CEL will always remain on unless you have the ECU reprogrammed to ignore the back 2 O2 Sensors.

Did not realize that! Thanks for advising me for I do not wish that for the small cost of putting a new one in. Thanks, Moxie
