I got the official LR est for $5400 (new tranny and drive shaft), so now I am working with a local mechanic on getting a replacement tranny with 11K on it (90 day warranty) and looking at a Tom Woods Custom Drive shaft.
My mechanics price (who works on LR toos) will bring it home for probably $2000-2500. I know one member mentioned looking at the Tom Woods replacement drive shaft for insurance and the kick in the ass I want going to get this done! Day late and a dollar short. I have also wrote a letter to the President of LR trying since I am pursuing this abit further up the food chain concerning the drive shart breaking. For Tom Woods to mass produce these, its a sign there must be a pretty big mkt for this. Check your u joints in the worse case I guess.
I presume this is not a bad price? Anyone out there let me know if you had similar work done so I can gauge it.
I am also wondering if anyone has gone thru this and actually had the tranny working properly after this retrofit?
The worse part is the car was running PERFECTLY finally up until this point.
