Greetings to all!
I am getting tired of the oil leaks! Time to do something about it.
I have a 2000 Disco II with 126k miles. I just had the transmission replaced a couple months ago and I can further vouch for everyone that says to keep an eye on your U-joints. With no sings of wear it managed to break and put a hole the size of my fist in the transmission. After spending about $3500 to have that fixed, Its safe to say I plan on keeping it for a while longer.
That being said, I am going to operate and replace some gaskets to fix the nagging leaks everywhere. Both valve covers are leaking a bit, its dripping antifreeze from the throttle housing gasket as well as starting to develop an exhaust leak from the manifold gasket. I plan on doing the work myself and was looking for some advice on what else to fix along the way, (common rover issues). I don't have an unlimited budget after the transmission repair but I don't want to tear it down again in a couple months to fix something that can be done now for a few extra dollars. Should I plan on replacing the timing chain and water pump while its torn apart as well? I know these are probably on borrowed time already. Especially the timing chain since I don't think it has ever been changed. I guess my biggest question is where should I stop? Do you think It is necessary to pull the heads and replace the head gaskets? If I pull them should I have them worked? (As I said before, I dont have a bunch of money to throw at it right now) They are not leaking and they still sound good, no tapping or noises.
Am I missing anything I should do along the way? Thank you all in advance for your input and advice.

First, go power scrub your engine and see where exactly you are leaking oil from. As for the valve covers, try tightening them with a 8mm, 12 point, 1/4" drive socket before you go any replace what may just be loose bolts.

Thanks Mike but Ive "been there, done that". It is for sure coming from valve covers and i check them / torque them if needed at every oil change. Was looking more for advice on what everyone recommends fixing, replacing along the way while I have it half way tore down.
