I just put 285/60-18 Cooper Zeon LTZs on mine. In your opinion, could I get that to fit underneath fully inflated? Do you need to trip if you keep it deflated? Can you give any more detail on the trimming required? Thanks!
I don't know if a fully inflated 285/60-18 will fit even with a trimmed shield. It's about .4" larger in dia. than the 275/60-18 and the 275/60 was a tight fit. I have seen some LR3's with the shield removed, there are only 4 bolts holding it in place, but I wanted to keep mine in place.
You might try NWOODS for more info on fitting the 285/60, IIRC he could only run about 10-15 psi in his spare but I don't know what he did about the shield.
Here is a picture of the trimmed shield, it took a couple of tries before I had enough material cut out. I also cleaned up the cuts after this picture was taken.
