I know I should know the answer to this but....

Do people ever put staggered wheels on an SUV/4wd vehicle? The reason I ask is because I've got some 22's laying around (you're joking, right?) and I want to put them on the LR3. We have a 745 that they were on, but it currently has the winter set on. The backs are 295/25/22 and the fronts are 265/25/22.

Thanks!

I would not advise this on any all wheel drive vehicle. Since the different tire sizes will cause the front and rear axles to travel at different speeds, this will destroy the transfer case.

Keep in mind the transfer case is expecting the same speeds (during normal driving) from the front and rear, a constant speed difference will cause all kinds of issues.

I ran a staggered setup on my RRS for over a year back in my bling days, with no issues whatsoever. However, you have to pick the setup very carefully to avoid having major problems with the t-case: The overall circumference and revs per mile of all 4 tires must be the same. In my case, I used to run 275/40/21 on 21x10 front and 315/35/21 on 21x11.5 rear. I don't know how wide your front and rear rims are, but there is nearly a 2" difference in circumference between the two tire sizes you mention and while that is acceptable on a 2 wheel drive sedan, it may spell trouble on a 4x4. Also, IMHO with a 25 tire profile on an LR3 you should probably make friends with a good dentist, that's going to be a rough ride.
