hello I'm new at this but here goes I have a 99 range rover 4.0 only had it a few months after driving it for awhile go to re- start it and it would be very sluggish , like the timing was to far advanced. now it won't start at all. any ideas, comments or suggestions would be appreciated. should I tear into it and replace the starter? if so any help down this avenue would help as I'm not a mechanic and never owned a rover, thanks in advance. by the by while it started and ran it ran great [wife loves it].

If the battery is good, then I would agree the starter has gone bad...

glad I could help... Just replaced the starter on my D1... it keeps freezing in the winter... sadly it was full of water and rust.
