Everything you’re describing sounds like there’s a CANBUS issue…which is usually caused by some sort of corrosion. Typically it’s a corroded ground, but every now and then, it can be a bad module.

The usual suspects are the ground points behind the passenger and driver’s footwell kick panels. There are at least 3 on both sides, and if your sunroof drains have ever overflowed, they’re usually underwater.

You’ve got a 2012, so there really aren’t any modules on the floorboards under the seat anymore. You’ve do live in FL, so water/moisture intrusion is most likely the culprit.

Unfortunately, I think you’re headed on a “fishing” expedition. Finding that one thing that’s corroded can be quite the challenge.

I’ve seen infotainment displays quit and they tend to take everything down with them.

Sorry, it’s early and my coffee is just kicking in, lemme summarize my drunk squirrel response:

1. Check the ground points behind the footwell kick panels.
2. Look for ANY signs of water intrusion and corrosion on ANY modules
3. Try pulling the touch screen display out. This will in effect remove the majority of the infotainment system from the CANBUS and can tell you if that’s where your problem is.
4. Pull the “A” pillar trim and see how the heated windshield ground wires look…they share a ground with several modules, and I know most rovers have issues with the heated windshield connections cause rover undersized the wire for them…they eventually figured it out in like 2014 or 2015.

I think I might have a correlation now that you mentioned heated windshield. The LR4 did not start going really goofy until after I had used the heated windshield a few mornings to burn off dew, oh and this LR4 lived it's first 4 years in Illinois, then south Florida every since, until I bought it.

Oh and will a simple multi-meter be sufficient to test for ground issues? I'll try and find some videos on testing for bad ground connections. Weird note, when the LR4 wigs out, which is constantly right now, It will recognize the KeyFOB and come back to life if I just attack my jumper box to the battery, ground as well?

I figured it out, ground wires on drivers side footwell, I started there since you had mentioned heated windshield ground. Per the wiring that ground is C2695 on the driver side, that same bolt also has a ground for the CJB/BCM. I pulled ALL the grounds on that side, cleaned with alcohol the bolt and eyelets, and everything now works!!!! Crazy thing is they were all tight and I saw no sign of corrosion but there must have been something there! Thanks!!!!

Nice find! Glad you got it! Those grounding issues are ALWAYS a pain to track down!
