I think this is a myth.

I have been in Extended mode many times and can NEVER get it to go into super... To be clear, a few times I've made the rig do SOMETHING...and presumably that's super-ex, but the 4x4 info display does not indicate it. ...and it's not all that obvious to me that the vehicle has lifted because it looks more like it's leveling.

Here is what I did:

1. Jacked up the rig so that the front passenger side tire was a couple inches off the ground.

2. Start the rig and note that it's in extended mode.

3. Apply the brake and hold the lever down to raise the vehicle.

So it definitely does something...but says "extended mode" and not super-ex.

I was duck hunting one time, and had to drive through some muck. The rear right wheel sank in the muck probably 3 or 4 inches, and I was able to see super-extended off-road mode one time. It helped too. I needed a bit of a boost to get out of the mud and what not.

I've heard of people actually bending the sensors on the wheels on the lr3, which causes the car to actually ride higher than they normally would in each mode.

If I pout a jack under the vehicle I can get it to go into super ext mode.
yes you can modify the height sensor arms to gain 2-3" of lift in all modes
you shorten the arms 10-12mm I have a set they are nice you can gain some clearence w/o getting hung up I have a set I run on the trail. Takes longer to jack up the vehicle than to swap the arms.
I also make them for people

no just jack up and climb under the vehicle. Some guys take off the rear tires but that takes to long.
spray arms with silicone use a screwdriver and wala

got it...but does everyone concur that it says "Super Extended Mode" in the info screen? I have not seen this. I also have a theory that you can put the rig in ext. mode by lowering it onto a tall object (I used a loose wheel/tire under one of my skid plates) but that will NOT result in as much elevation as jacking up the rig...although the LR3 will still call this "Extended Mode."

No it does not say super extended mode on the screen. It just continues to say you are in extended mode.

Today I felt a rock dragging under my skid plate so I stopped and lowered to regular height and it went into extended when it detected being high centered. Then I held brake and the suspension lever up for 5 sec. You will hear a ding. that is the only indication (besides the car rising) that you are in super extended.

You can also put something to get high sided under the car. When I want it that way at home I use a jack stand.

Super extended returns to regular offroad when you hit somewhere around 8-10 mph I think s it is only good for a slow rock crawl over something. Not extended use.

I tried getting there by purposely high-centering myself by lowering the rig onto a wheel under my skid plate; and they proceeded as you indicate above. Then I tried it with the jack and lifting the side. I felt like the rig was higher in the second case. I did a visual check and it appeared to have more clearance over that tire I used as a high-centering object. ....but one test was at night and the other the next day, so I'm not sure how conclusive it is.

The green one is in super extended mode, the white one is at standard off road height

Nathan, are you sure that your spring suspension is at standard offroad height in that pic? Looks more like normal height to me unless the pic position is off.

My offroad height looks higher.
