With the air intake being located on the side of the vehicle, it seems like it wouldn't be a good idea to run the LR3 through a car wash. What have others done? Is it ok to do this? I worry that the high pressure water from the car wash would be forced into the intake. Any comments appreciated. Thanks

Wash away!, the intake connects to a tube/tunnel with drain holes inside the wing that heads forward, makes a turn and the actual air box is in the vicinity of the r/f headlamp. There, the base of the box where the air enters is about 8 inches lower than the top and the air outflow to the plenum comes from the top. Car wash is not a problem.

We have an "ultimate truck wash" here intended to remove oil-field road mud from 3-ton trucks (it will take an 18 wheeler, but mostly they don't get that nasty). This facility puts out something like 500 gpm at 10,000 psig. I took my LR3 through it and got a red "low oil" light. It seems that the relay for that alarm is not sealed against a catagory 20 huricane. I let the truck dry out for a while and the light cleared on its own. Regular car washes don't give me any problem.

Wow. Sounds like that system would even clean out dried out mud. The oil light coming on is new to me but I have, in the past, had suspension faults that seemed to increase in conjuction with car washes. Haven't had a single suspension fault since the vehicle enhancement software was installed which is saying a lot since I probably had hundreds of suspension faults prior. Back to topic, one drawback to auto car washes is swirl marks in the paint. Very noticeable on my java black LR3 in certain lighting conditions.
