TD5 SeriesII Timing Chain Noise

I have a 2003 TD5 that has now travelled 230000klms and it has a very noisy chain rattle when idiling but dissappears about 1250rpm Could this be the timing chain? Is it a matter of tensioning or Replacing? is it a big job

Wish I could help here.. hoping some of our overseas members will let you know.... I don't have the repair manual for the TD5... I do for the TDi, but that is a different engine.
