I was at the dealership yesterday and was offered a non-registered demo HSE (with luxury pkg) with two thousand miles on it for $43k. But no HD pkg. Does this seem like a good price for this time of year?

I'm assuming this is an 08? I've been tracking prices across the US (I'm in Canada, but will fly up to 1k miles for a deal!) and have noticed that the market is continuing to fall. I've seen a few low mileage (ie < 10k) HSEs pop up around the 36-37k asking price, and actually a few SEs at 30k - there are currently 2 in Michigan @29.9 with 5k miles and 10k miles respectively. I may just jettison my existing LR Freelander for a pittance to jump on one of these!

yes its a 2008. I too am toying with the idea of getting an 08. Got another quote for a new HSE with all options at $48k (10k less the MSRP). So after reading your post, i probably should be able to get them to go down to as low as $40k, right?

I would think it's at least worth the effort. I'd grab a couple off of AutoTrader our Cars.com and print 'em out and bring them in for comparison sake; I did this (politely) last night with a Canadian dealer and they actually said they'd look at shopping a used one from the US for me (apparently sales up here are pretty bad as well!) at basically my cost (ie sale price + associated importation costs) + a few dollars profit. Seemed pretty flexible.
