I have a 2001 Discovery Series one with a Bosch engine and approx. 165k miles. The engine is overheating with no apparent leaks from the hoses, throttle body etc. The thermostat will not register off dead cold. I replaced the fluid that leaked out of the expansion tank and the fluid keeps its level. The temp light stays on even when the upper radiator hose is warm/hot to the touch. I think the problem could be the thermostat. I purchased a new OEM thermostat but I am not sure of the correct installation procedure. The lower hose clamp is hard to reach. Is there a process for the thermostat replacement on the forum?
The fan guard is making tight quarters. If I loosen the two top radiator mounting bolts can I pull-up the radiator and better access the lower radiator hose? I can reach the two upper thermostat hoses ok. Thanks
