Hello, looking into buying my first LR3.
Seen one at a dealership with 120'000km (75,000miles if converted by 1.6km to a mile) on a 4.4L HSE, is this a lot of km or as she not even broken in yet? Also what other things should I look out for?

Thanks
Lee :hello:

As always, get a review of all maintenance records for the vehicle.

What features does it have, compared to what you want, such as a locking rear diff, nav and so on.

Specifically would be looking at the differentials if they have been replaced, if the transmission fluid has not been changed it should be. Be sure that all the dealer services were performed, such as the 105k service, new belts, and so on. I would be looking at the lower front suspension bushings, the roll bar bushings, and so on.

If the general condition of the vehicle is good, including underneath, such as dents, scratches dings it is worth studying closer. It is usually obvious if a vehicle was well maintained or not, not just polished up for the market.

Need a little more detail to know if this is a good one. In general that mileage is not to bad depending on what year and what has been serviced or replaced.

There are a few things to look out for, let us know a little more about the Vehicle.

OMG they are expensive in CA!! That's about what I paid for my '05 with 28000 miles 4.5 years ago! That said, mine has about that many miles now and it has been almost flawless. Just had the control arm bushings replaced and it drives as rock solid as it did when i got it. You definitely need to at least be mentally prepared to spend a couple grand a year at least to keep it running like a top.

Hi RM yes cars are expensive in CA, as I am finding. Also added to that there are not lots about even private. So dealers have you by the short and curlys! If I go with this one I will ask the dealer for a full printout of the service history, if they cannot provide I'll walk away.

We now have 118,800 miles on our '06 LR3. The only mechanical issues were the lift gate mechanism, thermostat, and lower control arm bushings. Not bad IMHO for 80,000 miles of ownership. 2 of those 3 items I took care of myself. She's still running strong. So. I'd say there is still plenty of life left after 75K miles.

Ask if it has a locking differential. It might, as it appears to have premium audio and navigation.

Does it have a full size spare?

Otherwise, it looks nice based on the pictures
