Hey All - new to the forum.

Working on a tiny house style cabin build, I intend to eventually get a proper truck to pull, but in the mean time need to move the trailer only (less than 2,000 LBS) around town with my 2014 LR4.

The trailer came equipped with a 7 way RV Trailer Electrical connection, which I believe includes the electric brake controller connection.

However, from what I've read, the LR4 does not come equipped with a break controller and even the wiring kit i found at the link below also doesn't appear to have electric brake capabilities.

So the questions are:

1. What happens if I just install the 7 way wiring kit below and connect it to my 7 way connection trailer? i.e. will lights, brake lights, etc work but just no brakes? I've read that vehicles under 1500 lbs dont technically need electric brakes, so if I'm just moving it around short distances, do I really need it?

2. If I were to want to install a separate brake controller (I see a lot of people use wireless options) can I still use one of those if the 7 way RV connection the trailer comes equipped with already includes electric brakes presumably in the single connection point. If so, a product reference would be appreciated.

thanks all!
