Towing with the LR3

Need some opinions on towing with the LR3. I am driving from Chicago area to Denver in a few weeks and towing a trailer with a jeep on it. Total weight of loaded trailer is 6500#.

I have done several mods to my 2008 LR3 including the (rod) lift and 32" MT tires on 17" rims.

For the 1000 mile trip should I change the rod and MT wheels for stock and throw the MT's on the trailer or would this not make much difference? I daily drive the LR3 with the lift and MT wheels so I am very aquatinted to how they handle on the highway.

It does not seem like it would make a huge difference. Obviously the lower vehicle is going to be better on the drive train, and mileage to be lower, but the benefit may not justify the work. You didn't say where you are coming from, but I would suggest avoiding the wind tunnel they call Kansas.. lol.. that was miserable to drive through without a trailer.
