02 Disco II, 80,000 miles. Runs and drive fine. Recently, when I come to a stop, the trans will surge forward like it's going into another gear. Then the M and S trans lights start blinking. I checked the trans fluid level, and it was full and clean. Checked the ECU, no pinched wires or moisture. Any ideas on what may be causing this?

Well, took the truck to the shop before I did any damage to it, and here's what they found:
1. bad MAS (mass air flow sensor)
2. bad neutral safety switch. Failed due to moisture driping from the ac.

Update: Problem solved.
After having my local shop not be able to solve this problem, I decided to go to the LR dealer. My experience was nothing like the horror stories I've heard about going to the dealer, rather it was pleasant. Anyway, I dropped my disco off the closing of the work day, got a call at 7:30am the next day. They found out the problem, got my ok to do the work and it was done by 1:30pm. Price wise, it was a lot less than I thought. LR of Hanover, MA gets two thumbs up! Oh yea, the problem turned out to be the crank position sensor. When that goes, it cause a world of wierdness.
