So I got a 5000K H11 Kensun Hid kit for the low beams on my 2010 LR4.. Installation is super simple, installed the bulb, ballast, and wiring in the right hand light, plugged the right hand light in with the HID installed in just that one, and after 2 seconds it shut off.. The left one with the halogen stilll in it stayed on.. Put the Halogen back in the right hand light, and nothing.. The right is still off.. Tuned off the truck, tuned it back on, and now the right is back on with the Halogen in it.. Like it reset something.. Put the HID back in, same thing.. Turns on for 2 seconds and shuts off... Put Halogen back in, tuned the truck off/on, and right hand Halogen back on again..

What the f###????
I also tried finding the fuse for low beams which doesn't seem to exist in these things.. there is a fuse for just about everything but the low beam lights.

anyone out there know what can be happening???

The kit is a 55W H11

Thanks

I never had that happen before when I had the DDM HID kit in my previous 2011. I will say though that I used 35W and now 55W. I had heard from some folks with other vehicles they had some problems with the 55W. Maybe it needs too much juice? I know these electrical issues are extremely annoying, as I had one when I installed my ARB front bumper.

What kind of issues did you have with the bumper?
The ARB front bumper is made for an intended for the NA LR4, but the instructions and materials seem like they are more for the Australian Discovery 4. They included this extra relay switch in which my buddy and I could not figure out what it was for, but we installed it just in case. We tested everything with the lights on, but then later I noticed that when I put my right or left signal on, the parking/indicator lights would all flash in unison with the the turn signal (which worked fine). For some reason the turn signals were sending some juice to the parking lights, but not when the headlights or parking lights were on. After doing a few tests, we decided to pull the fuse from the extra relay and everything worked fine. It must be some remnant needed for the Discovery 4 or Australian lighting scheme or something. Either way, it drove me nuts for a day trying to figure it out.

If you ever want to go the ARB front bumper route, hit me up, I now have a lot of experience. :) It's an awesome modification, looks great and highly functional, but it's a HUGE task to install.

certain kits require a bigger draw to power up the ballast. i suspect you did not use the cable that connects directly to the battery. this would solve the problem. alternatively you can get the 35w kit but wont 100% eliminate the issue during cold weather.

Yep, so it seems.. I called the company, btw they have pretty good customer service, and they pointed me to a different wiring kit that will draw directly from the battery.. should have it soon and try to install it by the end of the week.. the interesting thing I learned during this ordeal is the presence of the automatic circuit breakers for the head lamps that trip and reset all by themselves.. never seen that on any other vehicle
