Vacuum Distibutor to Throttle Hose

Does anyone know the function for this litlle **? Mine is cracked and I am planing on replacing it just don't know how high on the priority list it should be?

Must be an older Disco... If I recall that hose is for vacuum advance. i.e. helps the engine run smoother.
