OK. . .I've never heard of this one. So, I took my 05 LR3 in for its last under-warranty check-up. I got some free bushings and control arms, but here's the weird thing: last year I had some MAS sensor issues. As a part of that issue, the dealer replaced my catalytic converter. After that, I've been noticing an "off" engine exhaust noise. It was almost like the engine was missing a cylinder. I had the dealer check it out, and the reply was that the Exhaust Manifold is damaged, specifically warped, and needs replacement.

The warranty company was called in to do a check. They did their thing, and now I'm waiting for a new manifold to be shipped from England. I'm stuck with a rental until the insurance/warranty company pulls the plug on that cost.

Anyone ever heard of this? I'm guessing the dealer did some damage to the manifold when they replaced the catalytic converter. There was a question as to whether the warranty company would cover it, but they have (phew, saves me a fight).

Sorry for the gripe here, but this is getting ridiculous. Tomorrow will be the 19th day without my ride because LR can't fine an exhaust manifold anywhere. I'm being told that the part may not be available until the 7th or 8th of April. That would be almost a month in the shop for a part that I could buy on BA for $235.

I sometimes think my problem isn't so much with the vehicle but the idiots that fix them.

Typically it's the idiot service people who have the problem and not the cars so much. I was at a dealership today for something very minor compared to yours and even that they had no f'ing clue about and what they were talking about. Folks on these forums are much more knowledgeble than the ones employed by these dealerships.

Plus I called on their BS today and they were not so amused with me outsmarting their crap. Typically I do my research before I go to dealerships. You maybe able to solve the problem faster than them, but do find a way to hold them accountable and have them pay up.

This dealership is the operator of two land rover dealerships in my area. They are about as big as they come, I guess. It's just silly that it takes them over a month to find this part. What's really irking me is they had me in a rental this whole time and now just told me that they are only covering half the days in the rental. I wouldn't have had an issue with that if they had told me up front, but the guys were saying, "no problem, keep the rental." That's the type of thing that makes me furious with these dealerships.
