My centre console has a book and an exclamation mark lit up.

What's that all about?

What year Rangie? What mileage? That sounds like the iconographic equivalent of "Service Engine Soon" but I could be mistaken....

That's what I thought. I've only owned it a couple of days. It's a 1996 with just over 72,000 miles. It was supposed to have been serviced before I bought it.

The dealer I bought it from seems to be quite good. He has given me 3 months to find any faults to repair. Almost straight away the dashboard read "gearbox fault", so I phoned him and he gave me the phone number of a secialist geerbox guy and said he would foot the bill.

Kevin,
If the mechanic is not familiar with Rovers don't do it. Pick your own mechanic, let the dealer know and find out exactly what the fault codes are.
Then get back to us if you are still up in the air.

It turns out to be a problem with an air con servo. Fixed with a quick greasing.
