I would say $2500 cdn per year if you do not turn wrenches yourself. Of course mileage dependant and not using the dealer. Of course chains will double to triple that figure in one unfortunate year.

Yikes!
My mechanic recently said you need to be a home mechanic or you are looking at $CAD5k annually going forward to keep a 2010 LR4 on the road
With dealer labor in NY, absolutely. I couldn't afford this truck if I couldn't work on it.

So not counting new tires, I spent about $900 on maintenance in 2021... I spent an additional $500 fixing another shops screw up, but it is what it is and wasn't the cars fault.

2 oil changes, new front control arms, front wheel hub assemblies, engine air filters, rear diff fluid, and rear brakes.

Not too bad honestly, and I knew the control arms and diff fluid were coming for a while. Brakes are a non event as well is oil.

This is me doing all of the work, minus an alignment/fixing another shops alignment (long story...)

That sounds like a v efficient use of funds. Congrats! Unlike my LCA replacement last year. A learning experience. Next time it will be a doddle!

Why would tires not be included? My nearly 10 year capture of ALL costs (outside of gasoline) say:

$0.098 per km or $06125 per mile Canadian. Using today exchange about $0.05 per mile.

Fuel? At $4/gallon and 15 MPG. About $0.27 per mile

So before insurance and registration my LR4 costs about $0.32/mile.

So 100k miles = $32 000 of operating cost. Add in depreciation and...Well pleasure is expensive ;)

Well in that case, add $1300 lol.

Total ownership over 60,642 miles I've spent $4,205.

Total with fuel I'm at $0.201 per mile.

I spent just about $10k US in 2021 lol. I did a bunch of major items and lifted it though. You get to 140k miles or so and there can be a few heavy lifts.

Could have bought a rubicon-ready Jeep for that but I’d rather put it into my LR4. Not saying it makes sense..,

I gotta be honest. All I’ve ever put in my truck is oil and gas. I just did lights but that was an upgrade. I haven’t had to repair a thing in 7 years. I will do control arms soon, about it.
