I have a '05 LR3 and had a small, independent shop do my last oil change. They put a 3 month, 3,000 mile sticker on the window for my next change.

From what I've heard and experienced with European cars with synthetic oil (mainly BMW's) that these line of thinking isn't accurate. My old bimmer was around 12,000 miles.

What are the guidelines you all use for oil change frequency?

I use mobile 1 every 7500 miles. I tow some, off road some, and its dusty here. YMMV.

I split that and go 3750...I believe the OE oil is a synthetic blend, but I could be wrong.

I go 5000 on regular Castrol oil. Seems to work fine.

Same here, every 5000 miles with regular oil. I recall a post that explained in detail why the 4.4 LR3 motor was designed to run on regular oil with no need for synthetic oil. After years of running synthetic oil in my Audis I was unsure about this advice but so far so good. (55K miles on the clock)
